Week 1 Leaders Notes
There are several things to do to prepare for your first meeting. Here is the list:
In-Person Groups: Complete your Covenant / Calendar and print two copies/participant. You can download a template as a Word file here: Download Covenant Template file. Descargar en español Once you download the file to your computer. you can edit it. You will need to add dates and times for your specific group to this template before you print it.
On-Line Groups: Complete the Covenant Template file as described above and email it (vs printing) to your participants prior to your first meeting - so that they have a record of the dates and times for your group and the large group meetings.
Install the Church Center App on your phone. (Apple App Store) (Google Play). You can also access Church Center from a computer. Just use the link in the next bullet, it will work on a computer or phone.
Login and find your Church Center group. Use this Church Center Link to open your group page. You can find the contact information for all of your participants on the “Members” tab. Please do this ASAP after your training class. Tell your participants where and when you will meet. We leave the groups open to new members until the date of your second session. Please continue to check the “Members” tab in your Church Center group until the day of your second session.
NOTE: The Church Center app allows you to send messages with the “Chat” feature. Your members will not see these chat messages until they have the Church Center app installed. Please make the initial contact with your group members via text, phone call, or email, and confirm they have received your welcome message.
If you are meeting on the Pantano Houghton Campus, your meeting room is shown on the public page of your Church Center group. To find your room, select your group in Church Center, scroll down and select “View Public Page”. Scroll down again to find your room. It is listed just above the Upcoming Events.
See this page if you need more help with Church Center. If you do not know where to find your room on our campus, use this map.
Participant books are passed out at the Rooted Facilitators Training class. They can also be picked up in Next Steps on the first Sunday of Adult Kick-Off Week, as shown in the Calendar. They can also be picked up in the church office the week before your first session.
Review week #1 in the Facilitator's Guide. Note that there are some changes to week #1. You will be asking your group members to play a video before they arrive for your week #1 meeting. See the Week #1 Video Follow-Up Guide for details.

Review what is in the Facilitators Guide Appendix (page 83). You will need various parts of this Appendix at different times during the Semester.
Please begin the practice of praying for each of your group members by name every day.
It is never too early to start planning for your serve experience. You can find a list of places to serve linked on the Experiences page.

Week 1 Leaders Training Video:
There is a training video at the bottom of each Week #X Leaders Notes. They give you some great advice for leading each session. These videos are just for facilitators. Please do not forward these videos to your group members. These videos were produced by the national Rooted organization. Some contain references to aspects of Rooted that we do not use at Pantano. If something in the video conflicts with the leaders notes above it, please follow the notes above it.
